In this blog post I will tell about why I want to start to write blog posts. And what the way I will do this and tips to make you a better blog post writter.

Why?

For a long time I was thinking to myself to make a website portfolio that there will be all the projects I did. With the integration with GitHub and this website, Medium, and every project will have skills that I can rating for making a summary of my skill for potential employers. For example 4 start Python skill on16 projects. Also I will need to have my own domain name and publish system with authentication and also… Yean you got the idea, it is a very complex project that I want to do to show my work and thing that I learn, and also, more importantly is like an archive of the things that I did and learn. And some day I realize that I don’t need it. I can use the Medium site to write about my projects, the things I learn, and my thoughts, Even If it’s not even related to software.

Now, don’t get me wrong, making my own website and portfolio is a great and useful project to do, also owning a domain name that will be my name is a very cool idea. But the Medium website is a better way to do that I wanted, a place to save all the things that I learn, make, and think. Also, this can be an even helpful for some people and improve my English writing.

I take a mission to write as many blog posts that I can in a variety of topics, starting with this one :). Not matter how long and how short they are, how much info there is about it and which topic. The main thing is that I will write that many as I can.

How To Get Views?

Of course use Medium website. But how I will structure my writing and what I will write about? It’s good idea to write to your audienc and not to write to your self (Like what I did when I started to write this article). Like you talk in a lecture, in second person. You can also see other blog post that are “recommended for you” or you Interest topic, not only for explanding your knowledge, but also talking inspiration and see the trends and what works and what not.

Title

First think about the title of your blog post. The title will give you the idea of what to write about and give you the start and focus to start writing your blog. Try to make an eye catching titile that brings you more views. More like “how to…”. Like clickbait YouTube video title, but without the clickbait and good eye catching titles. Also is it a good idea to pick titles that you yourself will search on the Google.

Induction

The first lines of my blog need to be a induction that tell what is going to be on the blog, like a overview, and hook people with a bold statement. For example: in this blog post we will learn how to write our own OS in C++. Tell the reader what to expect.

Structure

Use sub heading for the scaning your page. Keep the paragraph to 5–6 lines max. You can link your resources, you criticism them it make more credibility for your article and make you look more professional.

Conclusion

The conclusion summerise your blog post and ending with a question. When you leaving a question there are more chance that people will write comment and make more traffic for your blog. A lot of people will go down and read the conclusion and if they like that they will read the all article.

Linking

You can link other creators (Hopefully in postive way) and send them a email or a message that you are link them to your blog and if they can share your blog, also send the link to your blog post.

What I Will Write About?

  1. My projects — on every project that I will make I will write at least one blog post about it. Not matter how small is it and how big is it. Potentially on a big project I can write multiple blog posts that will be used as a Dev Log and show my progress. That’s how I will not forget about my projects and I can show them to the world!
  2. Things I learned— Every cool topic that I will research about and learn about I will write about it. I can improve my learning this way, because you can’t write about something that you don’t know about and you don’t have a deep understanding.
  3. Things I think— The thoughts that I have on many topics and my opinions.

Structure of My Blogs (For Now At Least)

  1. My projects — How I got to write on this project and what the project about, some context, what I learned from this project, what was hard and what was fun. I will summer the project and final thoughts and github link (if have :)). Also a very good idea is that I will have images and videos on the blog about the projects.
  2. Things I learned— Again, we start with context, how I get to learn about this thing. I will explain this thing that I learned, I explain in my own words why is it cool, how I learn it and uses for it.
  3. Things I think — context and my opinion. Possible counter opinions
